Finding a CNA Degree Program

CNA stands for Certified Nursing Assistant and there are several degree programs that you can choose from if you are determined to pursue this career. As CNA, you will be attending to the needs of patients so you will be serving meals, help patients take a bath, dress, eat, and you will also make the beds. Nurses today are of different types. You can find LPNs, RNs, Specialties, Advanced Practice, and many others. If you want to become a nurse in a year, you can opt to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. There are now online degrees to become an LPN. You will be working closely with the doctor and the RN. Your tasks include monitoring the patients, administering injections or medications, and assisting with procedures or certain tests.

Another option is to become a RN or registered nurse. This is better option because you can earn a higher salary as compared to LPNs. The responsibilities are similar to that of the LPNs but they can supervise others nurses. To become a registered nurse, you should take up an associate’s degree that will last for two years or you can take the 4-year bachelor’s degree. If you’re currently an LPN, you can still become an RN if you pursue a higher degree.

From RN, you can become a nurse practitioner. The only way to achieve this is to take a masters degree. As a nurse practitioner, you can now diagnose illnesses and treat them accordingly. You can now deal with hypertension and even diabetes.

You can still find advanced practice like certified nurse midwives, clinical nurse specialists, and certified registered nurse anesthetist. As long as you willing to pursue further studies, you can always specialize. This will however depend on your personal choice and available budget.
